Youth

The Ministry of National Education, Children and Youth is responsible for functions relating to youth development including:

  • General youth policy within and outside the school environment;
  •  Socio-educational services in high schools
  • Youth Voluntary Service;
  • National Conference of Luxembourg Students (CNEL);
  • General Conference of Luxembourg Youth (CGJL);
  • National Youth Service of au pairs (SNJ);
  • Development of housing concepts for young people with and without specific educational supervision
  • Development of SNJ Local Youth Units and follow-up of the Outreach Project;
  • Management and development of activities proposed under the Youth Voluntary Service;
  • Relations with the Ministry of Labor and ADEM.

Garantie pour la jeunesse

  • Preparing the legislation on Youth Policy, policy formulation and setting of policy guidelines;
  • The supervision of youth associations;
  • Providing support for general youth education, leisure activities and setting up of youth centres;
  • Financial support;
  • “Youth leave" (congé jeunesse) enabling workers to go on a leave for study purposes;
  • National Youth Service, including
    • The implementation of youth policy, and
    • Ensuring contact, information, counsel and support to the youth.
  • Preparing, coordinating and initiating investigation, analyses, research and reports
  • The Superior Council for the Youth (consultative body), and
  • Youth National Assembly.

The Ministry of Justice is responsible for:

  • Protection of the Youth

 

Sports

The Ministry of Sport is responsible for:

  • legislation on sport policy, sport organisations, and the Superior Council of Sport;
  • the National Centres for Sport and Culture;
  • the National Schools of Sport and National Sport Centres;
  • Promotion ofSport and Entertainment Activities;
  • The Medical Sport Centres and Antidoping Organisation (Agence luxembourgeoise antidopage (ALAD);
  • Relationships with Sport organisations and bodies;
  • Sport Infrastructures and facilities;
  • Métiers du sport - Compte satellite Sport - eSport.

 

Local

Local authorities are responsible for:

Youth

  • Youth local plans.

 

Sports

  • Providing assistance to sporting activities taking place within their territories, and
  • Sport facilities (shared with the State).
