Morocco Transport

Central Government

 

The Ministry for Infrastructure and Transport is responsible for

  • Developing and implementing policy in the areas road, port, railway, air and sea;
  • Defining road safety and to coordinate its implementation;
  • Commissioning or supervising technical studies;
  • Conducting technical works and technical inspection of licensed works, or provide stewardship.

The Marsa Maroc (public limited company chaired by the Minister)

  • Operating 9 ports
  • Managing Port services including handling, storage and port logistics and services to ships.
     

The Direction Générale de l’Aviation Civile serves as the country's civil aviation authority, and the daughter organisation Bureau d’Enquêtes et d’Analyses d’Accidents d’Aviation Civile is the country's air accident investigation agency.

The Société Nationale des Autoroutes du Maroc (National Company of Motorways of Morocco) is a national authority responsible for

  • Constructing, maintaining and operating, the motorway network granted;
  • Managing the public transport network;
  • Operating tourist services, hotel and other services in the proximity of the highway.

 

Regional Level

 

Regions are responsible for developing a transport plan and regional transport

Provinces and prefectures are responsible for:

  • Participating in the building and maintenance of rural, prefectural or provincial roads;
  • Scholar transport; 
  • Rural tracks and roads.

 

Local Government​

 

Municipalities are responsible for

  • Urban Public Transport;
  • Traffic management;
  • Maintaining stations and bus stops;
  • Road Quality And Street Signs (Article 39 Of The Municipal Charter).
