The Ministry of Culture is responsible for:

Drawing up culture policy and legislation and performing administrative and expert tasks in the areas of:

• Art;
• Cultural heritage;
• Media;
• Analyses, strategies, and cultural system;
• European Affairs and International Cooperation;
• Minority cultural rights;
• Slovene language;
• State ceremonies and other events of national importance; and
• Implementation of the European Cohesion Policy.

Local

Local authorities are responsible for:

• Promoting cultural activities (theatres, museums, archives);
• Provision and maintenance of infrastructure for cultural services;
• Promoting culture and artistic creativity;
• Ensuring accessibility to cultural programmes;
• Ensuring library activity for general education purposes;
• Preserving cultural heritage in local territories
• Supervision of local events.
