Central

The central Government is responsible for:

  • Participating in the shaping of vocational education policy and implementing it;
  • Participating in the shaping of human resources development policy and implement it;
  • Establishing, liquidating, and reorganising vocational schools as well as approving general vocational education plans;
  • The Vocational Training Council of Lithuania is the consultative body in deciding on strategic questions in the area of vocational education and training;
  • The Non-Formal Youth Education Centre is responsible for the coordination of nationwide vocational guidance.


 
Local

Local authorities are responsible for:

  • Organisation of vocational training and vocational counselling;
  • Creating a network of providers of vocational education, meeting the needs of municipal residents;
  • Establishment, liquidation and reorganisation of vocational schools;
  • Participation in the enrolment of persons in vocational training programmes;
  • Planning the admission of students to vocational training establishments;
  • Planning, organising and administrating vocational counselling.
