Central

The central Government is responsible for the overall energy policy. The long-term of the energy policy is laid down in the National Energy Security Strategy.

 

Local
 

Local authorities are responsible for:

  • Ensuring best framework for state energy sector and effective energy activities;
  • Ensuring continuity of supply of energy resources and energy;
  • Determining energy efficiency requirements;
  • Encouraging production and consumption of local renewable energy;
  • Organising supply of heating and drinking water;
  • Making arrangements for the lighting of the territories used for public needs;
  • Declaring and lifting a municipal-level energy emergency;
  • In the event of a national level energy emergency, implementing a Government’s plan for provision of customers with energy and/or energy sources;
  • Participating in the preparation of public awareness and education campaigns promoting the efficient use of energy and energy sources;
  • Managing the authorisations to engage in the wholesale and retail trade in bulk petroleum products and liquefied petroleum gas.
