Social Policy
 
Central  

The central Government is responsible for:

  • Provision of the general directions on the development of social security, established together with local governments;
  • The State Social Insurance Council and the State Social Insurance Board are responsible for pension, sickness, and maternity insurance, labour accident insurance schemes and the collection of social insurance contributions;
  • Active and passive measures against unemployment are carried out by the National Labour Exchange and its local offices.

 
Local ​

Local authorities are responsible for:

  • Planning and provision of social services, founding and maintaining of social service establishments as well as cooperating with non-governmental organisations;Providing social allowances and compensations;
  • Providing conditions for social integration of the disabled residing within the territory of the municipality;
  • Providing financial aid for housing acquisition or rental;
  • Establishment and maintenance of the municipal social housing stock, setting social housing rent;
  • Providing social care to individuals with severe disabilities.
