Lebanon Tourism policy


Central


Central government is responsible for:

  • Legislation and implementing policies;
  • National strategies;
    Coordinating and monitoring all the professions in the tourism sector and for implementing the laws and regulations relating to tourism and tourism enterprises[1].
  • Informing ministerial departments about tourism sector needs and to assist with decision-making;
  • Promoting Lebanon overseas;
  • Monitoring private tourism enterprises and professions;
  • Regulating, coordinating, and monitoring tourism professions;
  • Regulating, coordinating, and monitoring private companies and associations working in the tourism sector;
  • Promoting and executing tourism investment projects; facilitating and simplifying rules and requirements related to these projects; and applying laws and regulations related to tourism and tourism enterprises;
  • Developing archaeological and historical sites and museums for tourism purposes.

Local ​


Municipalities are responsible for cultural heritage sites in areas of responsibility as well as promoting local tourism producers (including management of festivals).

Voluntary powers include devising and implementing measures within fiscal means to support and develop the tourism sector in areas of responsibility.
