Central

 
The Council for Development and Reconstruction cooperates with the World Bank, the Agence Française de Développement and the French and Italian governments on a cultural heritage and urban development project, which aims to restore and protect the historical sites selected in five cities in Lebanon (Tyr, Tripoli, Baalbek, Byblos and Sidon) while improving local economic development and the quality of life in the historic city centres[1].

Central government is otherwise responsible for:
 

  • National promotion of Lebanese culture;
  • EU-Lebanese cultural cooperation activities;
  • Legislation over radio, television and media;
  • Taxes on entertainment establishments;
  • Regulating societies in Lebanon.
