The fisheries sector contributes to less than 0.01% of GDP, this policy area is therefore a low priority for the government. Consequently, activities and programmes run by the central government for fisheries are limited.

Local

Local government units in Al’ Aqabah, where Jordan’s only port is located on the Red Sea, are responsible for prevention of illegal fishing methods.
