Central level
The Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management is responsible for:
- Planning, construction and maintenance of major transport infrastructure;
- Main road network (motorways) and railways under national authority.
Netherlands is involved in the following priority corridor programmes:
- North Sea – Baltic rail corridor that connects the Baltic Sea region with western ports of Rotterdam, Antwerp, Hamburg and Amsterdam.
- Rhine - Alpine Rail, roads and IWW corridor that connects Rotterdam and Antwerp to the Mediterranean basin in Genoa.
- North Sea - Mediterranean - links Ireland and the north of UK through the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg to the Mediterranean Sea
- ERTMS. Train signalling and traffic management system.
- Motorways of the Sea. Regular sea transport, integrated in logistic chains, for all types of maritime freight.
