The Inspectorate of Education is responsible for supervising and checking whether statutory provisions are met and quality assurance is in place.

Organising programmes for adult education and training and assisting people seeking work and needing training for reintegration into work;
Financing regional vocational training centres;
Providing basic and secondary education for adults;
Participating in the 39 'registration and coordination' regions under the Regional Registration and Coordination Act (RMC, Regionale Meld- en Coördinatiewet, 2001) to ensure the identification and registration of early leaver (young people over 18 for whom school attendance is no longer compulsory) and coordinating their return to education or training programmes.
