Central level

The central government is responsible for:

  • Projects in areas of responsibility under the North Sea-Mediterranean Corridor and the Mediterranean Corridor;
  • The drafting of planning policy after consultation of the local authorities;
  • State-Region planning contracts;
  • Transport Networks, maintenance and developments.

 

Regional and intermediate level

Regional authorities are responsible for:

  • The elaboration of the regional scheme for planning, sustainable development and equality of territories (SRADDET);
  • State-Region planning contracts;
  • Maintenance of TEN network roads, railways, ports, and airports in areas of responsibility.

Intermediate level

Departmental authorities are responsible for:

  • Rural equipment aid programme;
  • Associated State-Region planning contracts;
  • The planning, maintenance and use of water resources.

 

Local ​level

Municipal authorities are responsible for:

  • Regional planning (joint municipal boundary initiatives);
  • Town planning, including the preparation of territorial consistency schemes, local town planning issue of building permits and other authorisations concerning occupation of the land.
