Denmark Tourism policy


 

In January 2014, the first Danish law for tourism came into force with the purpose of improving organisation and public promotion of tourism.

Central
 

The central government is responsible for:

  • The overall tourism policy;
  • The coordination of the Danish tourism policy;
  • International policy tasks related to the EU;
  • The international promotion of Denmark as a tourism destination, annual tourism analyses and information portals on Denmark(VisitDenmark, Wonderful Copenhagen);
  • Creating and implementing the National Strategy for the Danish Tourism.

The Danish Coastal and Nature Tourism, Danish Business Conference Tourism and Danish City Tourism, co-ordinate various local programmes and are responsible mainly for generating national growth.

Regional
 
Regional authorities are responsible for:
  • Facilitating and guaranteeing product development and  innovation in tourism, via regional tourism development organisations.
 
Local
 
Municipal authorities are responsible for:
  • Local promotion of tourism; 
  • Coordinating and delivering tourist services and information, as well as product development and marketing at the local level, via local tourist offices.
