Central
 

The central government is responsible for:

  • The overall legislation in accordance with EU standards, and for the Danish AgriFish Agency.
  • Promotion of the political influence of the agricultural sector;
  • Research and development programmes;
  • Trade and market policy and the EU Common Agricultural Policy instruments;
  • Management of the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD) programme;
  • Oversight of the Rural Development Programme (RDP).
  • Creating conditions for sustainable growth and green transformation;
  • Control of organic farming;
  • Involvement in the development of national and international regulations in the context of international trade;
  • Management of the Danish National Plant Protection Organisation.

Regional

Regional authorities can devise and implement programmes according to calls for proposals and the national rural development programme. Funding is drawn via the national authority from the EAFRD.

 
Local

Individual farmers can apply for funding via national managing authorities for the EAFRD.

LEADER groups can apply for funding either under the RDP or EAFRD and can devise and implement programmes in the field of agriculture to promote growth.
