The Central government is responsible for:

  • Protection and promotion of sustainable use of resources.
  • Climate protection and improvement of ambient air quality.
  • Protection of nature and landscape.
  • Safe environment policies.

Specific states responsibilities include:

  • Protection of natural water accumulation.
  • Protection of water resources and the quality of groundwater and surface water.
  • Air, nature, and landscape protection.
  • Operation of the National Geological Survey.
  • Protection of the rock environment, including mineral resources and groundwater.
  • Waste management.
  • Environmental impact assessments.
  • National environmental policy.

 

Regional

Regional authorities are responsible for:

  • Protection of animals, and
  • Environmental protection.

 

Local

Local authorities are responsible for:

  • Arranging the maintenance of cleanliness on the streets and in other public spaces;
  • Environmental protection;
  • Vegetation in built-up areas and other vegetation in public places;
  • Water management and treatment;
  • Urban heating, and
  • Waste processing.
