Central

The central government is responsible for the overall national legislation and the following:

• State Cultural Policy 2015-2020 (with a view to 2025)
• The arts
• Cultural and educational activities
• Cultural Monuments
• Matters related to Churches and religious societies
• Matters relating to the press
• Broadcasting
• Copyright
• Production and trade in the area of culture.
• National libraries and museums.

Regional

Regional authorities are responsible for:

• Supporting the development of culture, and
• The establishment of regional libraries, museums and galleries, regional theatres, orchestras and institutes of archaeological preservation.
   

Local

Local authorities are responsible for:

• Establishing cultural institutions, especially municipal and local libraries, municipal galleries and municipal and local museums, theatres, orchestras, and other specialised cultural institutions;
• Local cultural policy, mainly for large towns, and
• Announcing specialised tenders for the support of cultural projects.
