Central

The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development is responsible for:

  • Overall regulation in line with the Common Fisheries Policy; and
  • Drafting of a national strategy and an operational programme.
  • Management of the European Maritime Fisheries Fund (EMFF).
  • Support of Fisheries
  • Aquaculture research and development.

 

Regional

The Counties' Departments of Agriculture are decentralized public services of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development ensuring, at the county level, the implementation of policies and strategies in the area of activity of the ministry.

 

Local

Municipalities can devise and implement community led local strategies and projects utilising EMFF funds. Approval for these is sought via regional and national managing authorities.
