The Ministry of Health is responsible for:
- Development and implementation of health legislation;
- Development of budget proposals and budget planning;
- Development of policies on integrated care, community care, public health including implementing the European Commission 'Health in All Policies’;
- Planning and reform of the health sector;
- Supervising and set priorities related to public health;
- Promoting the provision of health considerations into all public policies and support their effective implementation in other sectors;
- Development and coordinateion implementation of public policies on health development, health services;
- Providing and maintaining health infrastructure;
- Improvoing distribution of health services;
- Evaluation of population health indicators and performance of public healthcare institutions;
- Promotion of cross-sector partnerships
- Developing and coordinating the implementation of public policies on state supervision of public health at national and local levels.
The Department for Public Health within the ministry is responsible for Public Health policy implementation.
Moldova is implementing National Public Health Strategy in line with the European Health Policy 2020 and the European Action Plan for Strengthening Public Health Capacities and Services.
