Central

 The Ministry for Health is responsible for:

  • Developing and implementing the National Health Development Plan 2012 – 2020;
  • Provision of health services;
  • Establishment and management of health facilities;
  • Development and implementation of health programme, health promotion

The current PRSP III sets the following priority objectives for the health and nutrition sector:

  • improve oversight, good governance and performance of the sector;
  • improve universal access to high-quality health care services; 
  • strengthen the integrated management of disease; and 
  • develop health financing mechanisms.

Local ​

 

At local level Communes are responsible for building, maintaining and equipping clinics and mother-and-child protection centres. As well as providing medical emergency transportation.
