Egypt UE

International and EU relations are managed at national level. The EU and Egypt began diplomatic relations in 1966. The EU seeks to develop a particularly close relationship with Egypt, its geographical neighbour, and to support Egypt’s domestic and political reforms in order to favour the process of decentralisation in different areas.[1]

[1] The current agenda of EU-Egypt relations is spelled out in an Action Plan adopted under the European Neighborhood Policy, available at: www.eeas.europa.eu/egypt/ (EN).
