Egypt Education

Central

Education is highly centralised. Central Government is responsible for:

  • Education policy
  • Strategy, including Egypt Vision 2030.
  • E-Learning Portal
  • Government schools, including Experimental Language schools.
  • Regulation of private schools.
  • Basic Education, primary and preparatory.
  • Secondary Education.
  • Post-Secondary Education.

Regional

Since 2009, plans have been made to decentralise certain lines of funding and planning for capital equipment and infrastructure, in all governorates, all the way to school level, in the case of smaller units of capital equipment, or levels higher than the school for items such as new infrastructure.
Regional authorities are otherwise responsible for enforcing the measures and policies stipulated by central government.

Local

Village popular councils are called upon to implement steps to combat illiteracy[1]
[1]Interview required to determine level of local authority involvement in education.
