The Healthcare system in Egypt is fragmented between the Ministry of Health on Population which delivers 30% of Services, the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research delivering 30% of Services through University hospitals, the Health Insurance Organization providing 10% of services and independent ministries providing the remainder.

Central Government is responsible for:

  • Primary and Emergency healthcare for Egyptian citizens.
  • Healthcare Policy and strategy
  • Healthcare Public Financing

There are government plans to reform healthcare and implement a universal health insurance for every Egyptian by 2030.
