Central

Central government is responsible for:

  • Legislation and fishery policy
  • Strategy
  • Extension and support activities.
  • Research, education and training in the Fishery Sector.

Regional

Three branches of the General Authority for Fish Resources Development operate in the main fishery areas to enforce regulations determined by the central authority. Each branch has:

  • An Extension centre.
  • Pilot Farm, and Hatchery
  • Laboratories for soil and water analysis.

Cairo is centrally managed, other regions are managed by 7 general directorates.
 These regional authorities are responsible for:

  • Publishing information relevant to fish farmers.
  • Delivery of free aquaculture training.
  • The sell of fish seed to private farmers.
