Regional Assemblies

  • Develop a Regional Spatial and Economic Strategy (RSES) which takes into account the nature of the environment and promotes sustainable development. Each RSES will contain measures to support:
  • Green infrastructure
  • Climate: Emissions and Decarbonisation
  • The circular and bio-economie

Climate Action Regional Offices

  • Ongoing role in the implementation of both adaptation and mitigation actions;
  • Measurement and recording of KPIs;
  • Advancement of behavioural change initiatives;
  • Development of sectoral competency and training;
  • Identification and sourcing of ongoing funding opportunities for the benefit of the sector.

Local

  • Implementing tasks within the framework of EU programmes;
  • Issuing licences for waste disposal and for the emissions into the air from plants;
  • Collecting or arranging for the collection of domestic and other waste;
  • Issuing licenses for keeping dogs and licenses for horses within its area;
  • Granting licenses to street traders to allow them to sell goods on the street and to casual traders to allow them to sell goods at casual trading areas designated by the city, county, town or borough council;
  • Monitoring the environment for signs of pollution;
  • General environmental protection and improvement, as considered necessary to promote the interest of the local community.
