- Facilitates community cooperatives and community development companies in the Gaeltacht;
- Supports businesses in developing new markets, technologies, products and strategic alliances through research and development.

RSES (Regional Spatial and Economic Strategy) is a
regional expression of the national enterprise policy Enterprise 2025 Renewed.
It sets out regional policy objectives for the region and guides relevant
actors that support the development of the region. As a
statutorily based document, the RSES informs effective planning and investments
in placemaking throughout the region, which facilitates enterprise development
among other objectives.

[1] The NES operates nationally through 63 Local Employment Service offices which provide a fully integrated nationwide range of services and supports.

The membership of LCDCs includes members of the local authority, local
authority staff, representatives of public bodies which provide services in the
area; representatives of local community interests; local community
representatives; and representatives of publicly funded or supported local
development bodies. The majority of members must be from the non-statutory
sector.

local economic and community plan must be consistent with the local development
plans made by the elected members and with the regional spatial and economic
strategies. The plan must be considered by the municipal district members and
approved by the council.
