Youth policy

The Ministry of National Education is responsible for:

  • Implementing the national policy;
  • Coordinating activities;
  • Collaborating with youth and other related organisations;
  • Developing informal youth education;
  • Developing information systems;
  • Facilitating tourism for the youth;
  • Youth leisure;
  • International and European cooperation;
  • Youth mobility and exchange.

 

Sport policy

The Ministry of Sport and Tourism is:

  • Implementing overall sport policy;
  • Organising systems with sport federations;
  • Funding and promoting sport;
  • Supervising Polish sport associations and sport federations pursuant to the provisions of the Act on Professional Sport;
  • Devising Polish sport development strategies and actions aimed at promoting physical activity;
  • Coordinating and financing national teams to participate in international competitions;
  • Coordinating the training of talented youth involved in competitive sport;
  • Ensuring the proper functioning of the physical education system in schools and other educational institutions;
  • Creating the organisational and legal conditions for professional sport;
  • Developing sport training centres;
  • Promoting sport among the disabled;
  • Promoting sport in higher education and cooperating with higher education institutions;
  • Undertaking actions to eliminate violence at stadiums and to eliminate doping;
  • Coordinating actions related to the implementation of international sport programmes, particularly European Union programmes.


 

Regional

Regions are responsible for:

Youth policy

  • Regions hold responsibilities in the field of youth insofar as they are related to education, culture and social policy.

Sport policy

The Department of Public Education and Sport in the Office of the Marshal of Voivodship is in charge of

  • regional activities in promoting physical education,
  • constructing, expanding and upgrading the sport facilities.

 

County authorities are responsible for:

Youth policy

  • Child protection (running tutelary and educational facilities, including orphanages).

Sport policy

  • Supervising sport and recreation institutions, located in the County (Education, Culture and Sport Unit in County Office


 

Local

Youth policy

Municipalities are responsible for

  • Youth insofar as they relate to education, culture, social policy, sport and health and the family support system and Foster care.
  • Facilitating youth participation and consultation through bodies such as  youth councils

Sport policy

  • Creation, organisation and promotion of the development of sport activities;
  • Funding.
