Central

 

The central Government is responsible for:

  • Drafting and adopting the general policy;
  • Implementing national policy to decrease unemployment, support programmes for job‑seekers and persons at risk of unemployment
  • Registering and recording the unemployed and job-seekers;
  • Performing short-term forecasts of the labour market;
  • Assisting unemployed and job‑seekers as well as economically inactive inhabitants in becoming engaged on the labour market;
  • Organising cooperation and mutual information exchange between the State Employment Agency and employers as well as listing vacant workplaces submitted by employers;
  • Collaborating with the State and local government institutions, non‑governmental organisations, as well as with physical and legal persons;
  • Amending the Labour law and the Law on Trade Unions;
  • Establishing the Labour inspection;
  • Composing annual labour market forecasts that serve to affect policies in higher education and vocational education;
  • Promoting the country's economic development and economic policies.

Local

Local authorities are responsible for:

  • Facilitating economic activity and supporting reduction of unemployment in the relevant administrative territory.
