Vocational Training

Central

The central government is responsible for:

  • Vocational training legislation;
  • The provision of twelve nationally determined vocational programmes for upper secondary schools (the education may be offered as upper secondary apprenticeship training), and
  • All matters related to higher vocational education (Swedish National Agency for Higher Vocational Education).

 


Regional

County Administrative boards operate some small (often residential) adult schools and oversee certain upper secondary school-level training programmes in healthcare and in agriculture and forestry.


 

Local

Municipal authorities are responsible for:

  • The operation of upper secondary schools, which includes twelve vocational programmes and six college preparatory programmes,
  • Adult education, which includes vocational education.
