Central level

The Ministry of Labour, Solidarity and Social Security is responsible for:

  • Developing, driving, implementing and  evaluating sustainable employment policies, labour relations and working conditions;
  • Designing and formulating the policy measures of the social security system, as well as programs and actions for its implementation;
  • Ensuring implementation of programs and actions resulting from the policies and established procedures;
  • Planning and coordination of the implementation of European structural funds for investment in the areas of social inclusion and employment,
  • Exercising oversight and supervision of the Institute of Employment and Professional Training in coordination with the Ministry of Economy.

The Ministry of Economy is responsible for:

  • Defining, managing and implementing policies on economic growth, competitiveness, innovation, internationalization of enterprises and the promotion of trade, industry and investment,
  • Providing oversight of the Commission for Equality in Labour and Employment which works to promote equality and non-discrimination between women and men in the workforce, employment and vocational training;
  • Promoting, attracting and supporting the implementation of national and foreign investments.
