Central Government
The central government, in particular the Cultural Services of the Ministry of Education and Culture, is responsible for:
 
- Formulating and implementing the
     government’s cultural policy; 
 - The financing and publication of
     editions, books, literary works and catalogues on Cyprus;
 - The promotion and organisation of
     exhibitions, festivals, musical performances, dance and theatre
     performances,
 - Promoting Cypriot cinematography aboard;
 -  Promoting Cyprus as a suitable
     location for filming,
 - Providing financial funding to
     organisations, clubs and cultural associations.

Responsible ministries/bodies
 
 
Province Level
District authorities are responsible for the administration and coordination of central government policies in the field of culture at the district level.
 
Local SAA
 
Both the municipalities and the communities
are responsible for projecting and promoting, according to their financial
capabilities, all aspects of culture. Responsibilities include:
 
 - Regulating
     and controlling the operation of any theatres or building or places where
     public entertainment is performed, and
 
 - Granting and
     revoking licenses for the use of such places.
 
 - Promoting
     cultural and artistic activities within their boundaries. This includes
     the establishment of theatres, museums, libraries, galleries, orchestras,
     choirs, music halls. It also entails the rewarding of individuals and
     organisations that promote such activities. 
 
 
Most municipalities have extensive involvement
in cultural activities, including the promotion and organisation of exhibitions,
festivals, dance and theatre performances, promotion and financing of local
museums and financing of publications.
