  • Lead, develop and coordinate policy;

  • Monitors the implementation of ethical principles in sports, notable anti-doping activities;
  • Facilitate international cooperation.

  • Implement initiatives and proposals for the development of sports industry;
  • Provide opinions to the use of physical resources.

Regional State Administrative Agencies

  • Supervise sports venue construction;
  • Support for children's and young people's physical development projects

  • Support for regional cooperation and civic activities;

Youth policy

Advisory Council for Youth Affairs (expert body on youth work and youth policy) attached to the Ministry of Education

  • Provide advice on the youth development programme and review youth policy implementation;
  • Make proposals for programmes and measures concerning youth;
  • Produce up-to-date information about young people and their living conditions.

Regional State Administrative Agencies

  • Provide discretionary state grants and advice;
  • Coordinate the Child and Youth Policy at a regional level;
  • Develop youth workshop and leisure activities;
  • Facilitate cross-sectoral cooperation between authorities, youth services, child and youth participation schemes;
  • Evaluate youth services; 
  • Provide youth services staff training- facilitate international cooperation.

  • Create the general conditions for physical activity at the local level
  • Organise sports services and health and welfare-enhancing physical activity, taking into account the different target groups;

  • Facilitate inter-municipal co-operation and cooperation with various sectors and regional bodies.
