Relations with the EU/Representation at EU level

The UK has left the EU. There is now a transition period until the end of 2020 while the UK and the EU negotiate additional arrangements.

A Joint Ministerial Committee on EU Negotiations – JMC (EN), referred to above – had been established after the UK's decision to leave the EU in order to provide a means for the devolved administrations to be engaged in determining the UK's approach to Brexit; it met on several occasions over the time after the referendum and prior to Brexit.

With the UK leaving the EU, the UK Permanent Representation (UKRep) to the EU has closed, and with it the devolved administrations' EU offices in Brussels that were located therein. The Scottish Government and Northern Ireland Executive still have offices in Brussels, however, as do two of the four national associations of local authorities – COSLA and the LGA – as well as the GLA representing Greater London.
