The central government is responsible for:

  • The preparation and implementation of the overall policy, in accordance with European standards and further aligning transport policy with EU legislation;
  • National and international scale infrastructures;
  • Road transport;
  • Railway;
  • Maritime transport;
  • Air transport;
  • Telecommunications;
  • Monitoring frameworks across Road, Maritime, Rail and Air sectors;
  • Funding.

Regional

Regional authorities are responsible for:

  • The development of regional infrastructure, including roads;
  • The provision of regional road services;
  • The distribution of national funds for:
    • Rural road infrastructures;
    • Regional transport.
