Albania EU

All the Albanian Regions are member of the Assembly of European Regions.
The Albanian Association of Municipalities cooperates with numerous European territorial associations: the Network of Associations of Local Authorities of South East Europe (NALAS), the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of Europe (CLRAE), and the Council of European Municipalities and Regions (CEMR).

In 2014 the General Affairs Council of the European Union unanimously decided to grant Albania candidate status for membership in the European Union which was formally adopted by the European Council on 27 June of that year. Two integration strategy documents, dated 2014-2020 and 2016-2020 have been published since, and a Ministry of European Integration established. Albania is pursuing an alignment of national policy and legislation with EU equivalents. The legal framework around many policy areas is therefore fluid and subject to change. The legal basis for the role of parliament in the integration of Albania with the European Union is found in Law No. 15/2015.
