Syria Energy

Central

The authorities responsible for energy at national level are the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, and the Ministry of Electricity. The Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources is responsible for overseeing the oil industry. Petroleum accounts for 25% of Syria's revenues and the country also has substantial natural gas reserves.

Regional

A large number of regional power plants exist, under the oversight of the Ministry of Electricity, delivering electricity to areas that do not necessarily correspond to the territory of governorates, districts or subdistricts.
