The Ministry of Health is responsible for

  • Providing developing and facilitating, access to healthcare services and infrastructure;
  • Providing primary and secondary health care services with a range of providers, including NGOs, UNRWA, the military medical services and the Palestinian Red Crescent;
  • Offering preventative, diagnostic, curative, rehabilitative and emergency care services to all sectors of the population including the injured, prisoners of war, families of dead terrorists, and the disabled;
  • Combating and preventing the spread of certain communicable and infectious diseases;
  • Providing oversight of private and NGO led clinics, hospitals and mental health facilities;

The Ministry of Education and Higher Education is responsible for the comprehensive school health programs to improve students' mental, social, physical psychological, and environmental health.

It should be noted that is no harmonized or integrated Palestinian health care system This is exacerbated by Israeli Military's blockades and lack of freedom of movement.

The UNRWA provides free health services to the people in the camps.

 

Regional

 

Governorates have a role in coordinating state services in the field of health. 

 

Local​


Municipalities are responsible for:

  • Ensuring public health and prevent epidemics;
  • Implementing sanitary systems;
  • Regulating slaughter houses;
  • Conducting public health inspection for food;
  • Establishing hospitals and health clinics.
