Central

 

The Environmental Quality Authority is responsible for

  • Conserving and protecting the environment;
  • Curbing and reducing the depletion of natural resources;
  • Combating desertification and pollution;
  • Promoting environmental awareness;
  • Ensuring sustainable development;
  • Developing policies and adaption plans for climate change.

 

The Palestinian Energy and Natural Resources Authority, is responsible for:

  • Implementing the goals of the national plan to develop renewable energy sources;
  • Conducting research and feasibility studies on the development or use of new or renewable energy sources, systems and equipment;
  • Contributing to the development of standard specifications for the equipment and systems; 
  • Implementing renewable energy projects and developing local manufacturing capabilities for equipment;
  • Establishing information systems for renewable energy; 
  • Providing technical advice on renewable energy and energy efficiency and encouraging the diversification of energy supply.


The Palestinian Water Authority is responsible for:

  • Integrated and sustainable management of water resources;
  • Protection and preservation of water resources.

 

Regional

 

 Governorates assist in coordinating services and activities

 

Local

Municipalities are responsible for:

  • water supply; 
  • sewage management; 
  • collection and disposal of solid waste; 
  • public storage control;

The Costal Municipalities Water Utility (CMWU) in the Gaza Strip is in charge of the operation and maintenance of regional bulk water distribution systems.
