The central government is responsible for:

  • The overall policy and strategy,
  • Drafts long-term and annual energy balances, and monitoring thereof;
  • Implements tasks deriving from the Energy Community Treaty.
  • Exercise economic regulation in the electricity, District Heating and Natural Gas sectors. (Energy Regulatory Office - ERO): and
  • Develop a National Energy Efficiency Plan


Local

  • Produce a Municipal Energy Efficiency Plan.

Besides government institutions, there are also companies with great impact in energy sector such as Kosovo Energy Corporation Transmission, System and Market Operator and Kosovo Electricity Distribution and Supply
