Central

​Central government is responsible for:

  • State policies and strategies (vocational training is not prescribed for in law)
  • Research and evaluation studies;
  • Determines eligibility criteria for state-funded vocational training;
  • helps academics, discharged soldiers, disadvantaged groups and underprivileged teenagers to improve their occupational skills and find a suitable job.[1]
  • analysing the job market
  • reporting on trends and developments
  • provides vocational guidance for young adults.[2]
  • National military service is compulsory at age 18 for most Israeli citizens, providing in some cases technical skills if entering technology-related wings of the armed forces.

Local

Local government units have voluntary powers in devising and implementing programmes or projects at the local level in vocational education, usually with state financing.
 No other competencies could be identified at the local level
