Review of EU waste legislation - new consultation of the Subsidiarity Expert Group
Members of the Subsidiarity Expert Group (SEG) within the Subsidiarity Monitoring Network (SMN) have been invited to participate in a consultation for the outlook opinion on the review of the targets contained in the Waste Framework Directive, the Landfill Directive and the Packaging and Packaging Waste Directive.

The waste dossier is one of the five priorities set in the Committee of the Regions' Subsidiarity Work Programme for 2013, which had been identified by the Subsidiarity Expert Group.

Mr Michel Lebrun (BE/EPP) has been appointed rapporteur and will be presenting his draft opinion to the ENVE Commission on 24 April and to the CoR plenary on 3 July 2013.

Mr Lebrun is seeking the expertise and experience of the members of the Subsidiarity Expert Group and also consult the SMN with regard to the subsidiarity principle on the attached questionnaire (which for the moment exists only in English; translations into French, German, Italian and Spanish will follow). Interested SMN partners may also contribute to the consultation.

EN - FR - DE - IT - ES

The consultation will run until 3rd May. Contributions may be submitted in English, French, German, Italian and Spanish and will be forwarded to the rapporteur as they come. A summary will be drawn up in June and shared with the European Commission.
