  • Limited competencies of the federal level in youth policy by providing a legal framework and general policy guidelines in certain areas of youth policy;
  • Financial support for youth organisations, youth projects, etc.;
  • Youth research and information;
  • International agreements;
  • Austrian National Youth Council.

Regional

Regional authorities are responsible for:

  • Youth policy primarily falls under Länder responsibility, focus on providing support for and cooperating with free associations ("freie Träger"), promotion of children support institutions, children and youth services;
  • Staff training for those involved in youth work;
  • Youth protection and welfare.​​

 

Local

Local authorities are responsible for:

  • Participation in the administration of youth policy projects and programmes.
