Other Policy Fields

Subsidiarity monitoring in other policy fields

In addition to the policies on which the Committee of the Regions must be consulted, many other European policies are also of importance for local and regional authorities. There are therefore a number of areas of "optional consultation" on which the Committee may issue opinions and on which the other EU institutions regularly consult the Committee.

The Area of Freedom, Security and Justice, the single market, enterprise and industrial policy, external relations, agriculture and fisheries, the information society and research are just a few of the other policy fields that the Committee of the Regions has included in its working programme and on which it is regularly consulted by the other institutions. These other policy areas are therefore also included in the subsidiarity monitoring network.
