The Committee of the Regions and the University of Tübingen are jointly organising the conference "Strengthening regional parliaments in EU affairs: challenges, practices and perspectives" on 2 July 2014, 9:30-18:30, at the Committee of the Regions in Brussels.

The conference aims to raise the awareness for the role and the challenges for regional parliaments with regard to subsidiarity control and more specifically the Early Warning Mechanism as provided for by the Lisbon Treaty. Contributions by academics and practitioners will focus on a first evaluation of the new mechanisms and their use by regional parliaments. In addition, the conference aims to bring practitioners from regional parliaments and policy-makers and experts together with a view to enhance good practices in information exchange at EU level.
