Briefing on the role of subnational parliaments in EU affairs

A lunchtime briefing on the role of subnational parliaments in EU affairs will take place on 13 July, 13:00-14:30, at the Committee of the Regions. The seminar is of interest for practitioners from regional parliaments and EU policy-makers as well as for experts interested in the parliamentary dimension of the EU.

It will present the actual state-of-the-art with regards to the political and normative debate about the involvement of regional parliaments in EU affairs and with regards to the current situation in six EU member states (Austria, Belgium, Germany, Italy, Spain, UK). Speakers include:

• Prof Dr Peter Bursens, University of Antwerp, Belgium;
