Central government is responsible for:
- Royal Commission to review and update the national master strategy for the energy sector. The Royal Commission has formed subcommittees to cover three main sectors:
§ oil, electricity and natural gas,
§ renewable energy and energy conservation,
§ alternative and local energy - Providing crude oil and oil derivatives for consumers at lowest cost;
- Work on the high availability of electric power on an ongoing basis and to the best standards and specifications;
- The development and exploitation of domestic energy sources;
- To create opportunities for the private sector and encourage investment in the energy and mineral resources sector;
- Improve energy efficiency and use down to improve the quality of service to the consumer;
- The development of new and renewable energy sources and increase its contribution to the total energy mix;
- Easing the burden of imported energy and manufacturing costs for the state budget;
- Energy infrastructure.
