Cycle of infodays of Amphictyony for local authorities in Greece and Cyprus

Between February and May 2015, the EGTC Amphictyony organized a cycle of five one-day meetings in Greece and Cyprus. The seminars were addressed to Municipalities elected officials and employees at the social and technical services, as well as representatives of local social organizations. Amphictyony’s efforts were rewarded by the large turnout, with participants both from the EGTC’s member-Municipalities and from other Municipalities from all over Greece.

On February 13, a one-day workshop was organized, with the cooperation of EETAA, at the Municipality of Larnaca, on Promotion of integration in the Planning and Provision of Social Services within Local Authorities through municipal staff vocational training – A Lever for Local Development (PRISSM - Leonardo). On March 31 the same seminar was repeated at the auditorium of EETAA in Athens.

On March 16, the EGTC organized a one-day conference, in cooperation with the Regional Union of Municipalities of Attica, on “The new financial tools of the European Union's Cohesion Policy 2014- 2020”.

The high turnout prompted the organization of a one-day workshop, again at the Regional Union of Municipalities of Attica, on May 6 titled “The Competitive European Programmes 2014-2020: Practical Advice for project design, implementation and management”.

In order to facilitate the participation from Municipalities in Northern Greece, the EGTC reiterated the two workshops on project PRISSM results and on the Competitive European Programmes, at another one-day seminar, held on May 18 at the Municipality of Pilea-Hortiatis (a member of the EGTC), with the support of the Municipality and the Regional Union of Municipalities of Central Macedonia. The initiative was actively supported by the EETAA, the Ministry of Interior and Administrative Reconstruction, the Union of Municipalities of Attica and the respective Union of Central Macedonia.

These infodays and seminars are an aspect of the EGTC Amphictyony’s commitment to solidify and expand contacts and ties with both the elected officials and the staff of Municipalities; to map their needs and prepare the groundwork for sound and fruitful territorial projects, at this critical conjuncture, when it is urgent to address territorial cooperation and social inclusion both as political issues and as levers for development.
