Photo competition: Imagine Europe without borders

Currently, debates all over the European Union are focused on the question of borders, both because of the extraordinary migratory movements which we are experiencing, and because of concerns about security and stability in and around the European Union. At the same time, the abolition of internal frontiers represents a key achievement of European integration with great social, cultural and economic benefits.

What are borders? How do they affect our lives? What makes them "real" or "imaginary"? How are they changing? What does this mean for us as individuals, and as citizens of our town, region, country or the European Union?

"Imagine Europe without borders" invites both amateur and professional photographers to capture in a photo their interpretation of this very topical issue. In order to provide participants with ideas on what to focus on, you will find an "inspirational cloud" on the website of the initiative.

The competition runs until 30 June 2016 and is open to European residents aged 18 and older.

Would you like to win up to EUR 2 000 worth of photographic equipment, plus a three-day trip for two to Brussels? Then it's time to get your camera and start snapping!
The three best photos will be selected by a jury, composed of members of the PES Group in the CoR – representing local and regional authorities across the EU - and professionals from the world of photography. In addition, the public will be able to select a fourth winner via an online vote on our Facebook page (www.facebook.com/pesgroupcor) in September.

Winners will be announced in October 2016.
