The objective of the grouping is to act as the managing authority for the cross-border cooperation programme INTERREG V A Greater Region, in accordance with Article 125 of Regulation (EU) No 1303/2013 and Article 23 of Regulation (EU) No 1299/2013.
In this context, the EGTC shall be responsible for its acts and decisions vis-à-vis the European Commission and the Monitoring Committee of the programme.
In addition, the EGTC assumes the role of employer of external staff to be recruited at the level of the managing authority and of the Joint Technical Secretariat. In this context, the EGTC will comply with all the legal provisions which are linked to this function.

Tasks
The task of the EGTC is to function as a centralised management structure for the Interreg programme, which can employ staff and work for the benefit of the whole programme area. The grouping implements the tasks of the MA according to article 125 of EU Regulation No. 1303/2013 and article 23 of EU Regulation No. 1299 /2013.
