Novohrad - Nógrád
​The Novohrad – Nógrád EGTC results from a partnership between Hungary and Slovakia, involving 47 000 inhabitants in a 119 km²'s area.
 
The two founders were twin cities before and they had a strong partnership with the Novohrad-Nógrád Geopark (UNESCO site) and the Euroregion Neogradiensis.
 
The EGTC was registered by the Metropolitan Court of Budapest on 21December 2011.
 
It aims at promoting the cooperation beyond borders reinforcing economic and social cohesion. This through decreasing unemployment with comprehensive plans with a light on sustainable development.
 
The EGTC operates in a very disadvantaged region. It is challenging makes aware people of the potential of the EGTC.

Tasks (2015)
The EGTC’s target is to promote cooperation beyond borders, reinforcing economic and social cohesion. This should be achieved through decreasing unemployment with comprehensive plans that focus on sustainable development.

The EGTC takes care of short-term tasks on infrastructure and business development, training, education and research, tourism, and protection of the environment.

Challenges or issues (2015)
The EGTC operates in a very disadvantaged region. It is challenging to make the inhabitants aware of the potential of an EGTC.

Budget
No support from the Hungarian national budget for 2016.

Staff (in FTE)
There is currently no staff hired. A search for a new director is underway.
