Euroregion Pyrenees-Mediterranean

​​​​​​​​​​​The Euroregion EGTC Pyrenees Mediterranean (EPM) results from a partnership between France and Spain, involving around 14,2 Million inhabitants in a 109.830 km²’s area.

​​​​This EGTC was established in 2009 to coordinate activities between the current partners: The Catalan Government, the Government of Balearic Islands and the Region Occitanie.

​Tasks

The main fields of action are culture, innovation, sustainable development, higher education and tourism. Since 2017, the EPM is working to create a transparent, effective and recognized pole of cooperation in Europe. The Euroregion Pyrenees Mediterranean has a roadmap for the triennial 2018-2020, which, among others, envisages the following objectives:

  • Act with and for the citizens of the area
  • Develop the Euroregional innovation ecosystem
  • Contribute to the sustainable development of the area
  • Deepen Euroregional identity

European projects in the fields of innovation, higher education, support to increase competitiveness, culture and sustainable development.


Budget

Around € 800,000 – € 1,000,000 contributed by the contribution of the four regions and also through EU funds. Financial control is carried out by the French financial administration.


EU-funded projects and programs in phase of implementation in 2020

  • ​KISS ME (funded by Interreg Europe), Knowledge & Innovation Strategies involving SME in the context of INTERREG. Euroregion EPM Partner. (https://www.interregeurope.eu/kissme/) until 2021. Budget : around 1.2 MEUR.
  • PSAMIDES (funded by Interreg Med), Ports small and medium alliance for sustainable development. Project leader until 2022. Budget : around 2,8 MEUR.
